Prosecutor requests to convict Gezal Bayramli for 4 years of imprisonment
Baku / 23.01.18 / Turan: At the trial in the case of the deputy chairman of the Popular front party Geyzal Bayramli held in the Gazakh regional court today, the prosecutor proposed to convict her to four years of imprisonment. The defense asked to justify Bayramli in view of the groundlessness of the charges, said the lawyer Elchin Sadigov. Bayramli herself in her final speech reiterated the political nature of the criminal case. However, the judge did not allow her to complete her speech and appointed a verdict at 17:30.
* Bayramli was detained on May 25, 2017 at a border checkpoint upon his return from Georgia. A lawsuit was filed against her in connection with Article 206.1 (smuggling) of the Criminal Code, and she was arrested. According to the investigation, during the inspection of baggage Bayramli were found 12 thousand dollars, which she allegedly did not declare.
Bayramli said that the money was planted to her, and her arrest is politically motivated. She also stated that she went to Georgia for treatment, and for the last two years she underwent surgery there. Local and international human rights organizations recognized Bayramli as a political prisoner. -03B06-

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
