The family of the national hero V. Seregin is evacuated to Azerbaijan
Baku/19.03.22/Turan: Currently, measures are being taken to evacuate the family of the National Hero of Azerbaijan Viktor Seregin from Ukraine. The family members of the hero waited with hope for the end of hostilities, but after a shell hit their house on March 17, they decided to apply for evacuation.
According to the Azerbaijani diaspora, the head of the inter-parliamentary group of the Milli Majlis for relations with Ukraine Rufat Guliyev, the head of the organization "Congress of Azerbaijanis in Kyiv" Oleg Krapivin and the Azerbaijani ambassador to Moldova Gudsi Osmanov are currently occupied with the evacuation of the hero's family.
According to deputy Guliyev, the ambassador will personally meet the members of the hero in Moldova and escort them to Azerbaijan.
In Baku, relatives of the hero will temporarily stay in the house of Jamila Abdullayeva, co-founder of the Women's Entrepreneurship Development Association, until they are provided with an apartment and other benefits as members of the National Hero's family.
Victor Seregin heroically died in the first Karabakh war. On January 28, 1992, a civilian Mi-8 helicopter controlled by him with 47 passengers on board was shot down by a Stinger thermal missile fired from Armenian positions. After an explosion in the air and a fire in the cabin, Seregin managed to take the falling side away from the residential areas of the city of Shusha, to the area of the relay tower. Seregin died along with the crew and passengers. He was buried in the Alley of Martyrs in Baku.
In November 1992, by decree of the President of Azerbaijan, Abulfaz Elchibey, he was posthumously awarded the high title of National Hero of Azerbaijan.—06B-
