The term of arrest of the former chief of the International Bank extended for three months
On 4 March the Narimanov District Court of Baku granted the submission of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the extension for three months the arrest of Jahangir Hajiyev, the former chairman of OJSC "International Bank of Azerbaijan." According to the court, Hajiyev will remain in custody until 4 June.
Hajiyev was arrested on 4 December 2015 on charges of misappropriation and abuse of office.
* A 53-year-old Hajiyev submitted his resignation from the post of head of the IBA on 18 March 2015 "for health reasons." After that were arrested a number of former high-ranking officials of the IBA and businessmen that received large loans from the bank. According to unofficial data, the amount of bad loans in the IBA reached $6 billion. Hajiyev was summoned for questioning after the resignation on 17 October Eldar Mahmudov, his close relative , the head of the MNS.-06D-
