Tofig Yagublu Can Fall into Coma at Any Moment
Baku / 12.09.20 / Turan: Opposition politician Tofig Yagublu continues his hunger strike for 11 days in jail-3 in Shuvelan.
As his daughter Nigar Hazi said, today she spoke with her father on the phone. “He wanted to call early in the morning, but since the employee eavesdropping on his conversations had not yet come to work, the administration did not allow making the call,” Nigar said.
Yagublu said that he demanded that the administration of the pre-trial detention center give him the opportunity to contact his family twice a day, since his relatives are worried about him.
“Even in such a situation, they show bias towards me, because other prisoners are allowed to call 2-3 times a day,” Nigar recounted her father's words.
Yagublu also noted that he agreed on the eve to give him a dropper after Dr. Adil Geybulla assured him that the injections were not nutritious and he would personally supply the dropper.
The detention center’s doctors also told Yagublu that he could fall into a coma at any moment.
“After the dropper, nothing has changed. Again until the morning I could not sleep. I am very lethargic, I have terrible headaches and dizziness. Here the doctors are excited. They fear that I will be in a coma at any moment. Every day my health is rapidly weakening,” Yagublu said.
He conveyed gratitude to everyone who supports him, said Nigar.
Recall that a member of the National Council of Democratic Forces and the Musavat party, Tofig Yagublu, was sentenced on September 3 to 4 years and 3 months in prison. In prison, he began a hunger strike, which lasts for 7 days.
International organizations condemned the verdict. Amnesty International recognized him as a “prisoner of conscience.” - 06D-

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
