Transit of large consignment of drugs to Georgia and Europe stopped
Baku/11.02.23/Turan: Azerbaijani police stopped the transit of a large consignment of drugs bound for Georgia and Europe, the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry said today.
During the operation, officers of the Main Anti-Drug Department of the Interior Ministry detained a head of the criminal group, Bahruz Beybudov and two members of the drug trafficking network.
Their flats and cars were searched, 57 kg of heroin and 10 kg of methamphetamine were seized.
The detainees testified that they conspired with an Iranian citizen, nicknamed "Asker", to import the drugs and agreed to act as drug couriers for a fee.
They were to sell some of the drugs in Baku, and transport the rest to Georgia and Europe.
A criminal case has been launched, and all three detainees are now under arrest. -06В-
