Villas Suffer as Result of Gas Pipeline Explosion (UPDATED)
An explosion took place on the morning of December 27 at the two strands of a gas pipeline with a diameter of 1,000-2,000 mm on the 43rd kilometer of the highway Baku-Alat.
After the explosion, a fire broke out, there were no injuries, and work began to extinguish the fire. There are no threats to the nearby residential facilities, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
SOCAR stopped the flow of gas in the pipeline, through which gas is supplied to Baku from the Sangachal terminal.
The cause of the explosion is not reported. However, simultaneous explosion of the two strands of a pipeline large enough in diameter is not possible due to small problems. A terrorist assault is not ruled out, although the officials do not comment on the version. -02D-
