Yesterday internal troops were brought to strict-regime Prison No. 1 in the village of Boyuk Shor, relatives of the convicts reported.
On Sunday, the relatives of convicts, who came to the prison, were not let meetings with the inmates and were removed from the territory. At the same time shouts and screams of the prisoners were heard from the cells.
Relatives of the convicts believe that the reason for a possible rebellion could be the high cost of food in the shops and dining in the penitentiary.
Eyewitnesses also reported on the departure of a large number of police vehicles from the jail probably with a view to transfer the prisoners to other penitentiaries.
In turn, the Head of Public Relations of the Penitentiary Service Mehman Sadigov denied reports on troops brought to the prison and on the beating of prisoners there.
The Ombudsman's representatives intend to conduct monitoring in the prison, the press service of the agency said. -36D06--
