Who Tried to Set Fire to Mosque in Garachukhur?
Last night there was arson in a mosque in the village of Garachukhur, Gamet Suleymanov, one of the Salafi scholars told Turan.
Referring to the imam of the mosque in Garachukhur, he believes that it was arson.
"In Garachukhur there is tension between Shiites and Sunnis. The growing number of supporters of the Sunni (Salafi) was the cause of tension," said Suleymanov.
According to him, the materials from surveillance cameras will determine who committed the arson. The windows of the mosque were smashed and a vessel with an incendiary mix was thrown inside. Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames.
To eliminate tension, it is necessary to divide the community, as they should not pray in the same mosque.
Tensions between the mazhabs continue for more than a thousand years, and when the faithful pray in namaz, their conversations and behavior irritate each other.
Suleymanov said that if the Sunnis in Garachukhur do not receive a separate mosque, the faithful will go en masse to pray in the mosque Ilahiyyyat in Baku.
Commenting this for Turan, the deputy chief of the press service of the Interior Ministry Ehsan Zahidov denied reports of a fire in the mosque.
The night watchman in the mosque told the police that two unknown men burned the carpet at the entrance to the mosque. The guard put out the flames. The 32nd Police Station conducts an investigation.
It should be noted that the tension between the Salafis and Shiites in Azerbaijan have been observed for more than one year. Salafis call themselves Sunnis, and are perceived by Shiites as conductors of harmful and alien ideas and doctrines. In turn, the Salafis or Wahhabis consider the Shiites and all other believers non-Muslims.
These contradictions have caused a number of serious incidents between the different sects in Islam, and radicalization of Salafis. Most of the Azeris fighting today in Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as in the North Caucasus, are exactly the Salafis. -05B06-
