I hate to hear «Ararat is our mountain; our mountain; our mountain»
"I hate to hear fairy stories about terrible Aliyev or foreign political statements in the vein of "Ararat is our mountain; our mountain; our mountain" (Armenian song - ed.)" writes a research fellow of Matenadaran Gayane Ayvazyan commenting a statement of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at Valday summit in Russia (Aliyev"s statement is cited below - ed.).
"I"m reading a response of valorous Armenian press and a reaction of iplomats to the Aliyev"s statement in Sochi. He replied two Nikol Pashinyan"s controversial statements: а). Artsakh is Armenia and that"s it; b). Conflict resolution is meant to be acceptable for peoples of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Nasgorno Karabakh. In turn, Aliyev exclaimed "Karabakh is Azerbaijan and exclamation mark ". The Armenian press largely plays up this fragment to thus provoke lamentation and exultancy. Armenian officials are demonizing the situation; however, the response proved to be identical. In the second part that the Armenian press prefers to shy away he rebukes the Prime Minister as saying that there is not people of Nagorno Karabakh but population of Nagorno Karabakh consisting of Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples enjoying equal rights. This is a well-thought-out formulation, and I"d like to know a response of the Armenian party hereto. I hate to hear fairy stories about terrible Aliyev or foreign political statements in the vein of "Ararat is our mountain; our mountain; our mountain", wrote Ayvazyan.

I would like to briefly discuss a highly important reform initiated by the Azerbaijani government 10 years ago but remains incomplete to this day.

In our society, there is no place under the sun for enlightened people. In our society, the place for enlightened individuals is in dark basements. People who ought to spread light are subjected to curses. Their only weapon is their bright ideas. Their only crime relates to daring to uncover truths hidden beneath the societal fog, bringing them to light and acquainting the community with them. Natig Javadli was such a person, a journalist with a historical consciousness and an enlightening activity.

Alaskar Mammadli, a well-known lawyer and media expert, has issued a message to fellow citizens on the occasion of Azerbaijanis' Solidarity Day and New Year from his prison cell, where he has been held since March 2024. Mammadli, arrested on charges of currency smuggling, has denied the accusations, which international media and human rights organizations have labeled politically motivated.
