The author of "Contract of the Century"

The phrase "Contract of the century" is one of the most beloved and often repeated words in our country. However, few people think how this phrase appeared. If to take into account that it is often repeated officials, then might give the impression that this is one of the elements "of the oil strategy of Azerbaijan." But everything is much easier. This term on the oil contract in 1994 was first used on October 3 in the same year in an analytical article agency Turan. It is noteworthy that the original analysts Turan called the oil contract "Gulistan" after the name of the palace, where the signed contract was signed by analogy with the historical "Gulistan treaty", but then, at the insistence of Togrul Juvarly the agreement was "named" – The Contract of the Century. Recalling this, I want to emphasize the ability and creative thinking individual.

A long time after the signing, when the term "Contract of the Century" was used extensively in the opposition, independent, and then in the foreign press, the official media of Azerbaijan,  bypassed its. The reason was simple, most in the government seemed to be that the future of the project in question, and there is no certainty that it will be possible to carry out the complex geopolitical situation. In those years different moods were observed: not we want this contract; the West wants it, and then let the West realize it.

Today, when the difficulties are behind, there a lot of people who want to own the laurels. But  this is the fate of politicians,  but analysts like to predict, because sometimes analysts see  and understand more  than politicians.
