Rector of Dresden University of Technology called for release of Gubad Ibadoglu
Baku/22.08.23/Turan: Rector of Dresden University of Technology Professor Ursula Staudinger has appealed to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to release opposition politician and economics scholar Gubad Ibadoglu from prison.
"Our university is lucky that a scholar like Gubad Ibadoglu will be teaching in our educational institution.
Gubad Ibadoglu has taught in world-class universities, contributed to science and I am convinced that this scientist, researcher and educator with a very brilliant mind will continue his activities in this direction. At the same time, we know him as a conscientious and honourable person and we consider the charges against him to be baseless. Release the world-renowned scientist, he should start working at our university from October 2023," the appeal further said.
The Azerbaijani Interior Ministry said that Ibadoglu is associated with supporters of Fethullah Gulen, accused of an attempted coup in Turkey in 2016.
Gubad Ibadoglu does not accept the accusations, considering them absurd. -03B06-
