LitRes e-book catalogue launched in Azerbaijan
Baku/09.12.22/Turan: Russian book service LitRes has launched Litres.az website and mobile application for Android and iOS platforms for Azerbaijani audience. Users will get access to 4000 e-books and 1000 audio books in Azeri language, as well as the opportunity to read and listen to works from the Russian-language catalogue.
To remind, LitRes in Azerbaijan was launched on 8 December and became the service with the largest catalogue of books in Azeri language in the country. It will contain 90% of all published content in Azeri language by the end of 2022, which will be more than 4000 e-books and 1000 audio books. Among them are the works of major local publishers, such as "Qanun Nəşriyat evi", "Teas Press", "Köhlən Nəşriyatı", "Altun Kitab", "Alatoran yayınları", "XAN" and "Qədim qala".
Note that the Russian-language titles are also available for LitRes users. At the moment, books can be purchased by the piece (ppd) on Litres.az and in the mobile app on iOS and Android.
"We plan that LitRes will become the biggest player in the market of electronic and audio books in Azerbaijan, and we see a very large potential for growth: the possible capacity of the digital book market in the country could reach $2-3 million a year. Above all, this will be helped by the distribution of LitRes to the Azerbaijani audience, as well as the interest of publishers in this form of content and the demand for electronic and audiobooks among users.
Our goal is to develop the market of digital books in Azerbaijan and support local authors, publishers and readers," said Sergey Anuryev, CEO of LitRes.
According to statistical data, the total market capacity of books, movies, music and games in Azerbaijan in 2022 is estimated at $26.6 million. Broadband internet penetration in the country is quite high (76%) and more than 7 million people (66% of the population) use mobile communications, according to the GSMA.
"Globally, the market for e-books and audiobooks is growing steadily. And no wonder: we live in an age of digital technology that improves our standard of living. As the largest and oldest publishing house in Azerbaijan, we always try to keep up with the times. At LitRes, we will present more than 1,500 books: bestsellers, novelties of fiction and non-fiction. We are sure that our readers will appreciate the convenience of the service and a wide range of books," said Shahbaz Huduoglu, CEO of "Qanun Nəşriyat evi". -0-
