Architects of CIS Discuss Topical Issues of City Planning and Development of Territories in Baku
Today Baku has opened the 34th session of the Intergovernmental Council for the construction and building activities CIS. Representatives of regulatory bodies Commonwealth gathered to discuss current issues of urban development, improvement of the spatial organization of territorial development, housing, architectural supervision of construction, operation, safety of buildings.
A report on the urban development of the city of Baku was given by the Chairman of the State Committee for Construction and Architecture (SCCA) Abbas Alasgarov. According to him, the concept plan for Greater Baku until 2030 is aimed at the reorganization of land use on the Absheron Peninsula. In particular there will be regeneration of the industrial district area of ??3,000 hectares. This area in the past functioned as an industrial center. Today, these industries have become obsolete, and on the other hand, it is now almost in the center of the amphitheater, not answering any environmental or functional requirements. In this area a huge park will be laid, said Aleskerov.
Concerning the details of the new development plan of Baku, the head of SCCA noted that population growth in the 250,000 hectares of land by 2030 will be 745 thousand people and will reach 3.3 million. Residential background is to increase by 30.3 million square meters and will be 64.1 million sq m. Only in Baku they will build 23.3 million square meters of total floor space. In this case, the provision of housing for one person will be in the region of 25 sq. m (currently 17.3 sq. m.). The road network will increase by hundreds of kilometers. Aleskerov said that agricultural land and its intended purpose in the region covered by the plan will be reviewed.
The head of SCCA noted that in November, is scheduled to hold a public discussion of the development plan for Greater Baku.
Today and tomorrow, representatives of city planning agencies of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Tajikistan, will make presentations on the problems of urban development and architectural related issues. The delegations of the CIS member states will visit the landmark Old City and the concert venue Baku Crystal Hall, and will become familiar with the 18th International Construction Exhibition. - 08C-
