Azerbaijani SMEs Taught Efficient Use of Resources
On Tuesday Baku hosted screening projects for efficient use of resources and the creation of clean production, by reducing the impact on the business environment in eight small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
"Expert advice of UNIDO (United Nations Industry Development Organization) had a positive impact on energy efficiency and waste management in our company to complete the evaluation of productive assets," a representative of Ltd. M & T (producer of meat products and delicacies under the brands Sevimli Dad and Haci Turqay since 1993) Azada Rzayeva told Turan.
Certificates were also received by representatives of the companies AER, Balacans, Azsunger ltd, Crystal ltd, and Zaqatala Chay. These companies operate in the production of food products, chemical products and building materials.
At the next stage it is planned to involve in this project several SMEs and create clean technology centers. "Those companies that have plans to develop a "green economy" can apply for funding to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which returns a portion (15%) of credit in the form of a grant," said the national coordinator of the program "Resource efficiency and cleaner production" Rauf Rzayev.
This project by the specialized UN agencies in the countries of the Eastern Partnership is carried out in the framework of the green economy (EaP GREEN) of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Financial support (12.5 million Euros) is provided by the European Commission. -0-
