Idea of Building Bridge over Baku Bay Fails
The State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture (SCCA) rejected the project of the Ministry of Transport, involved the construction of 17-kilometer-long bridge across Baku Bay. Instead, under the bay a more functional tunnel will be built. This was said at the 34th session of the CIS Intergovernmental Council for Construction and Building Activities by the SCCA Chairman Abbas Alasgarov.
He noted that the proposed bridge would spoil the panorama of Baku. Note that in June this year, the Ministry of Transport has announced the completion of the draft of the bridge, which would cost about $ 1.8 billion.
The project, developed by Korean experts, was presented for consideration and approval of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan. The toll bridge had to be built from the village Bayil across the sea to the Cape Zych.
The Transport Ministry did not comment on the statement of SCCA. - 08B-

Last week, Azerbaijani media reported an impending increase in retail bread prices, attributing the rise to an increase in product weight. The following day, an official notification confirmed that the government had no intentions of sanctioning a bread price hike in the country. However, the threat of a price increase for this staple food remains for another reason.
