State Committee for Standardization Prepares to Inspect of Tourism, Oil and Gas, ICT
Since the beginning, representatives of the State Committee for Standardization (SCS) have inspected 601 enterprises. Shortcomings were revealed in 443 of them. At a press conference on Thursday, Abulfat Imanov, chief of technical regulation and standardization service of the State Committee of Standardization, said that over 100 companies were audited, resulting in fines of 164,000 manat.
Inspections revealed that items produced by the enterprises did not meet regulatory requirements. For this reason, 129 enterprises were ordered to stop work. The audit found bread being baked in unsanitary conditions and using expired products. Equipment failed to meet standards.
These violations incurred penalties on individuals - 2500-3000 manat, legal persons - 4000-5000 manat. Serious shortcomings were revealed in 108 bakeries producing bread, and serious problems were identified in the activity of 80 enterprises; the activity of 40 bakeries was suspended.
Celebration Palaces were also inspected and E. coli. bacterium was found in most of them.
Serious deficiencies were found in the veterinary field. Because of inspections, the Chief of Veterinary Service of Baku and deputies were dismissed.
Problems were also found in the construction sector; production of cement and bricks was particularly problematic. A stop-work injunction was issued to two quarries.
The STS is going to hold office checks in the fields of tourism, oil & gas and information technology in the near future. -05C04-

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
