In August, car imports increased by 24.1%
In the period from June to September importing cars again increased the supply of the domestic market. In August alone, car imports increased 24.1%. However, since the beginning of the year car imports fell by a third, or 23,950 units.
According to the State Customs Committee, in August it declared 4,938 cars. In July, the figure was 3,979, in June – 3,783.
During the eight months of this year the country imported 43,276 vehicles, which is 35.7% less than in the comparable period of 2013.
The share of passenger cars (39 198) in the structure of imports amounted to 90.5%. Compared to the same period in 2013, the supply of cars fell by 21,726 units.
It is noteworthy that this year car imports from China are growing. By the number of imported cars this country is closer to Russia. According to the State Statistics Committee, in the first half of this year, imported were over 7,900 new vehicles, of which 1,252 units accounted for by China and the Russian Federation – 1,598. Over all were imported Korean cars – 4,488 units.
Since April this year in Azerbaijan there has become applicable the standard Euro-5 for emissions into the atmosphere and exhaust by imported vehicles. In addition, since June this year in Baku, where about two thirds of the cars are located, high interest rates on daily parking have been used. However, as was the trend for June-August, the level of imports of cars goes up again. --08D--
