Iranian Companies Offer Cooperation in Grain Seed Growing
Azerbaijan is being visited by a group of businessmen from Iran, specializing in the field of grain seed growing. The day before, they were received by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Ilham Guliyev.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Iranian seed growers offer bilateral cooperation for the development of relations in the production of wheat and barley seeds.
The Agriculture Ministry representative suggested that the Iranian side explore the prospect of joint ventures and exchange of seeds through their trials in the two countries.
The Executive Director of Pishgaman Sabz Urmia, Shirvan Ardalanzadeh, in turn, noted that during the 4-day visit, they will visit the seed farms in the regions of Azerbaijan. The company has about 200 private entrepreneurs engaged in the production of 75 varieties of wheat and barley seeds.
It is noteworthy that this year, for the first time Azerbaijan exported 10.5 thousand tons of barley to Iran.
In 2015, Azerbaijan established the State Fund of Seeds to meet the country's needs for high-quality and productive varieties of cereal seeds. The Fund’s activities are not reported. ------08D
