Launch of Second Satellite of Azerbaijan Also Charged to Arianspace
The second national telecommunications satellite will be launched into geostationary orbit by the company Arianspace (France).
The Deputy Minister of Communications and High Technologies Elmir Velizadeh told the media today the decision was made based on the results of the tender. The contract will be signed tomorrow in Baku within the framework of telecommunications exhibition and conference Bakutel-2015. The launch of the satellite into geostationary orbit will be carried out by a carrier rocket Arian-5. Recall the first winner of the tender was also Arianspace.
The cost of this contract is $ 93 million. The launch of Azerispace-2 is scheduled for 2017. By agreement between Azerkosmos and Intersat, Azerispace-2 satellite will be located at the orbital position 45 degrees east and cover the regions of Africa, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Azerkosmos JSC signed a contract with the Canadian Space Systems Loral (SSL) for the manufacture of satellite Azerispace-2 costing $ 191.36 million. The project is financed by long-term and concessional credit line of Export Development Canada, EDC.
Azerkosmos with 100% state capital was created in 2010. It is responsible for placing into orbit telecommunications satellites, management and implementation of operational works. --17D-

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
