Iranian Embassy about Events in Nardaran
The Iranian embassy has expressed condolences on the victims in Nardaran. The statement expressed regret that some media and officials attributed the events in Nardaran with Iran.
The embassy remained silent for a long time, but the events have already become "insulting" for Iran. For this reason, the embassy rejects all accusations against Tehran and stresses the good and constructive relations with Azerbaijan.
Therefore, these "attacks" are a serious threat to the bilateral relationship and attempt to discredit Iran, the statement says.
Iran's interest is to maintain stability and good neighborly relations with Azerbaijan. Tehran considers unfounded allegations of a number of media people that those who kissed the hand of Ayatollah Nuri Hamadani during his visit to Baku, are people associated with Iran (meaning Taleh Bagirzadeh - Ed.).
Certain forces in Azerbaijan and especially the Wahhabis are trying to use the events in Nardaran and to show Shiism as a religious perversion (takfir).
Religious leaders and other believers must be careful to resist such propaganda, the statement said. -03D-
