Ministry of Health Sends SMS Alert to Pharmacies
The capital's pharmacies have been warned of new prices for medicines.
According to the report on the website of the Ministry of Health and its Center for Analytical Examination notified the management of existing pharmacies in Baku via SMS. Epistles were sent pursuant to the decision of the Tariff Council, according to which a fixed ceiling price will take effect from 15 September.
The SMS notification states that the owners of pharmacies should be guided by wholesale and retail prices for the 256 kinds of medicines, as well as the published list of drugs that are sold without prescription.
The Ministry of Health warned the pharmacies that all registered drugs must be dispensed only on the basis of a single prescription form.
In the second phase of the campaign measures will be taken to inform the public. The site of the Ministry of Health will host the list of pharmacies with names, addresses and phone numbers of those working around the clock, as well as other necessary information to consumers. --17D-

Azerbaijan’s economy, which is heavily dependent on oil revenues, faces a stark warning in the 2021 report by Carbon Tracker titled “Beyond the Oil States: The Urgent Need to Reduce Dependence on Oil in the Context of the Energy Transition.” The report ranks Azerbaijan among the most vulnerable oil-dependent countries, placing it in the "5th group" — a category reserved for nations expected to experience a decline in oil and gas revenues exceeding 40% over the next decade. This group includes Angola, Bahrain, Timor-Leste, Equatorial Guinea, Oman, and South Sudan, highlighting shared economic risks for these states.

In Azerbaijan, the government has increasingly relied on tax exemptions for imported goods as a tool to stabilize domestic market prices. The exemption from the 18% VAT on wheat imports, extended this year, exemplifies this approach. New measures have also been introduced, including tax relief on imports of electric vehicle chargers, while exemptions for high-cost medications are currently under discussion. Notably, defense imports continue to be free from taxes and customs duties.
