Second International Exhibition on Water Technologies opens in Baku
On Thursday, April 10 at the Baku Expo Centre opens the 2nd Caspian International Exhibition "Technologies for water treatment and water treatment» CATEC 2014.
The exhibition was organized on the initiative and with the support of national water operator of "Azersu".
The organizer, Iteca Caspian, held a press conference at which they disclosed the goals.
Deputy Director of the Scientific Research and Design Institute Water Canal Adyshirin Alekperov noted that update water and sewerage systems of Azerbaijan, large projects to build facilities for treatment of drinking water and sewage underscore the urgency of the exhibition and conference on water technologies in Azerbaijan. Recent advances of the industry, innovative ideas and technologies that demonstrates exhibition, and then introduced into the industry, and contributes to its modernization.
According to Alekperov, today monthly water consumption per capita is about 500 liters, in Berlin, for example, this figure is an average of 124 liters. Ongoing work on optimization and elimination of losses lead to the fact that water consumption in Baku will reach 200-250 liters. While the cost will decrease, and the quality of water supplied to seriously improve.
Exhibition Manager Rashad Gadimov noted that the exhibition will be attended by 2014 CATEC 79 companies from 24 countries. Over half of the participants are foreign companies. They represent services in the areas of water supply, wastewater and rainwater, micro tunneling, equipment and technologies for water supply and sanitation.
CATEC is participated by tech companies, suppliers, environmentalists and developers from Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Denmark, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Russia, Switzerland and Turkey. Local companies are represented by Accord, Azertechnoline, Ganja Instrument Plant, Omicron, Unipark, Sumgait Technology Park, etc.
In parallel with the exhibition, on April 11, the 2nd Caspian International Conference Water Technologies will be held. It will represent over 100 professionals from 30 countries, including representatives of the International Water Resources Association (IWRA).
Adyshirin Alekperov said that during the conference they will discuss the problems of integrated water resource management, application of innovative technologies for the treatment of drinking water, as well as questions on effective management of water, wastewater and rainwater networks. - 08C-

Discussions were held in Baku within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, focusing on the "Decarbonization and Climate Adaptation of the Cotton-to-Clothing Value Chain." Azerbaijan has attracted significant interest from companies in both developing and developed countries, as well as from state and private sector representatives of at least 10 nations, regarding participation as shareholders in the Climate Finance Action Fund (CFAF), which has a total budget of $1 billion.
