The World Bank recommends diversifying the three directions in the field of ICT in Azerbaijan
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology presented a report on the results of a diversification housekeeper of ICT in Azerbaijan.
This was announced after a meeting of ministry, Ali Abbasov in Baku with the chief economist of the World Bank's Europe and Central Asia, and Mona Prasad, head of the local office of World Bank Larisa Leshchenko.
According to the minister, carried out with the support of the bank's Financial Services Development Project, using an existing platform LLC Azerpocht, created the conditions for the development of financial services in Azerbaijan provided in rural areas and small towns of free public access to banking services. Noted continued work to provide customers with bulk services through local post offices.
According to Ms. Prasad pursued diversification of ICT is rated as the right step to diversify the economy. WB is a proponent of diversification in 3 directions - physical capital, human capital, and the reform of public institutions. These lines are evaluated as factors ensuring sustainable economic development of countries - partners of the bank. The bank, reporting its recommendations on ICT Research "Diversification and growth of the industry - the choice of Azerbaijan after the "oil boom", noted three main areas - the increase in domestic demand, the transformation of Azerbaijan into a regional ICT center, and the development of the regulatory environment.
Report taking into account comments and suggestions voiced at the meeting, passed the ministry, and the final recommendations are presented to the Cabinet of Ministers. - 17D-
