Operation "Suleyman Shah" by the Turkish army
On night February 22 the Turkish army , invaded the territory of Syria to ensure the safety of the tomb of Suleyman Shah, in 37 km from the Turkish border, according to Turan referring to the Turkish media.
During the operation, 40 Turkish soldiers who were guarding the tomb, and the embalmed body of Suleiman Shah were taken to Turkey for embalming procedures, as well as relics, requiring restoration. Then the body and the relics will be returned to the tomb at the territory of Syria, and the Turkish flag will be hoisted on it.
Narrow Turkish contingent continues to guard the tomb and adjacent territory near the town of Cobán. Seven hundred and fifty people were involved in operation, 40 tanks and armored vehicles, as well as aviation. One soldier died during the operation.
Turkey has strengthened the protection of the tomb in September 2014 after militants from the Islamic state captured several Turkish soldiers in the city of Aleppo, as well as to protect the tomb against the encroachments of the IG.
The tomb of the grandfather- founder of the Ottoman Empire, Sultan Osman I Suleiman Shah is located in the Turkish enclave, and in accordance with the contract of 1921 is guarded by Turkish military. ---0 ---
