U.S. warns Russia to step up attacks ahead of Ukraine Independence Day
msn.com: The U.S. State Department, through a travel alert from its Embassy in Kiev, has noted that the security situation in Ukraine is "highly volatile." "Conditions can deteriorate without warning," it has pointed out.
It has therefore advised its citizens to "remain vigilant" and take "appropriate measures to increase their security," as Russian attacks in the country "pose a continuing threat" to both the population and civilian infrastructure.
"If you are in a house or building, go to the lowest level of the structure with the fewest exterior walls, windows and openings; close all doors and sit near an interior wall, away from windows or openings," reads one of the State Department's recommendations regarding a possible bombing.
This warning from Washington comes after the Biden Administration warned on Monday of a new Russian offensive scheduled for Ukraine's Independence Day, which is celebrated this Wednesday, as reported by 'The New York Times'.
In fact, the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, also called on Monday for strength to its citizens in the face of a possible escalation of attacks by the Russian Army due to the celebration of this holiday in the country.
On August 24, apart from commemorating Independence Day, it will be half a year since the war in Ukraine, since Russian troops began their attacks on Ukrainian territory on February 24, the day on which Putin decreed the "special military operation".
