Akbar: Refusal to Register Ibrahimbekov Will Mean Absence of Elections

Today’s session of the National Council at the headquarters of the Open Society Party (OSP) has formed compositions of a number of committees.

This was reported by the chairman of the OSP, Sulhaddin Akbar, at the briefing.

The Economic Committee is headed by Gubad Ibadoglu, the Social Committee – by Eldar Aliev (a member of the Liberal Party), the Legal Committee – by Vidadi Mirkamal, the Committee on Foreign Relations – by Gultekin Hajibayli, the Public Affairs Committee – by Mehman Aliyev, the Ethics Committee – by Nureddin Mustafayev, and the Committee on Karabakh – by Jamil Hasanli.

At the same time, not yet formed, are committees on mass rallies and activities for women and youth. Discussions on these issues continue.

The second issue on the agenda is the formation of the electoral headquarters of the single candidate from NCDF Rustam Ibrahimbekov. According to Akbar, in all probability it will be the chief of the head staff of NCDF Eldar Namazov.

When asked whether there is consideration of the possibility of nominating a candidate backup in case if the power would not register Ibrahimbekov, Akbar said: "The National Council has a single candidate. Refusal of his registration would mean the absence of elections."

Regarding the visit of the NCDF delegation to the USA, Akbar said this structure has not received an invitation. However, some members of the NCDF are invited to the Helsinki Commission hearing on July 16.

The session continues. -03C06-
