Angela Merkel Understands and Respects All
The EU respects the right of each member state of the program Eastern Partnership to seek their own path of development, while maintaining cooperation with the EU, said German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
"We respect the decision of Armenia, which, in addition to intense negotiations with the EU, is seeking closer economic cooperation with Russia and the EAEC. We also respect the position of Azerbaijan, which is not looking for ways to join the EU and sees no role for itself in the EAEC. We are also ready to continue bilateral cooperation with Belarus, despite the obvious contradictions," said the Chancellor before departure to the summit of Eastern Partnership in Riga.
The Eastern Partnership provides for political association and economic integration between the EU and Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The last three countries last year signed an agreement on associated partnership with the EU. -06D--
