April 12 Rally Scheduled at Fountain Square
On the Facebook network, a page has appeared which has scheduled a rally for April 12 at 18.00 at Fountain Square in Baku under the slogan "Hands off young people." The purpose of the rally is to request stoppage of the harassment of youth activists.
Ganimat Zahid, Chief Editor of Azadlig Ganimat Zahid created the page. He said the dictatorial regime of Azerbaijan began a relentless fight against politically active youth.
"This is the last convulsions of the dying regime and to safely pass this time people of the country must show solidarity," wrote Zahid.
The authorities want to suppress protests against soldiers’ deaths. The only way to salvation of the young is consolidation of society, said Zahid. He declared April 12 the day of solidarity to end the repression of youth. Due to pressure from the authorities, Zahid left Azerbaijan with his family two years ago. Members of his family received political asylum in France. -16D06-
