Azay Guliyev: Baku is ready to fund NGO projects in Karabakh
Leaders of several NGOs of the Nagorno-Karabakh region appealed during international conferences to official representatives of the State Support to NGOs Council under the President of Azerbaijan with a request for grants, according to the head of the Council, Azerbaijani MP, Azay Guliyev.
"We are prepared, in accordance with the laws of Azerbaijan, to support NGOs, founded by all Azerbaijani citizens, regardless of their nationality," he said. Guliyev called on NGO leaders of the Nagorno-Karabakh region to appeal officially to the State Support to NGOs Council under the President of Azerbaijan, regarding their desire to participate in the projects.
"Regardless of nationality, every citizen of Azerbaijan, including citizens of Armenian origin living in Nagorno-Karabakh, can take part in competitions for getting funding for their projects. Currently , representatives of different nationalities living in Azerbaijan are involved in the projects," continued Guliyev. However, Guliyev did not mention the names of the leaders of NGOs who have appealed to the Council. "We can not name them because of security. Even after their financing, we will not disclose their names," said Guliyev.
For the first time Guliyev said about it a few days ago. A number of Armenian experts and NGOs refuted statements of Guliyev, others do not exclude the possibility of such cooperation.
