Bolton summed up his tour to the Caucasus
Tbilisi / 10.26.18 / Turan: "Georgia represents a country of higher strategic interests for us," said John Bolton, an adviser to the US president on national security, summarizing his visit to Georgia.
He highly appreciated his meetings with Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani, Defense Minister Levan Izoria and Interior Minister Georgy Gakharia.
During the meetings, we discussed a number of issues related to the situation in the region and bilateral relations between Georgia and the United States of America. For my part, I noted how much importance we attach to relations with Georgia. Georgia is for us a country of the highest strategic interests. I would like to stress once again how firm was the support of the United States of America regarding the independence and territorial integrity of Georgia after the collapse of the Soviet Union. I also confirmed that our position has not changed," the adviser to the US president said.
According to him, at the meeting with the Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, they talked about the opportunities associated with bilateral relations between Georgia and the United States and cooperation in the region. "In general, I would rate my visit and meetings today as very positive and very productive," said John Bolton, who had previously visited Baku and Yerevan. -02D-
