Baku/26.10.18/ Turan: Jeyhun Nabi, activist of the "Classic" Popular Front Party detained on October 23, was released on October 26, he told Turan. According to Nabi, on October 23 after returning from the Russian Federation, people in civilian clothes detained him in Shamkir region. First he was taken to the Shamkir district police department, and from there he was brought to Baku - to the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. "I was told that the detention was related to my activities in social networks on the Internet, and they also asked about connections with political emigrants in Europe. They did not initiate a criminal case, they said that they were simply conducting an investigation, and eventually they were released. There was no pressure or mistreatment towards me," Nabi said.
Nabi, after a three-month stay in the Russian Federation, arrived in the morning on October 23 in the Shamkir hometown. A few hours later he went out to meet friends. Later, friends told relatives that Nabi was detained. Nabi is known for his work on the history of the Azerbaijan People"s Republic, he is the author of Face to Face with the Soviets, and he is also known for harsh criticism of the Azerbaijani authorities in social networks. -05D06-
