Celebrations on Occasion of Novruz Holiday Start
Baku / 19.03.18 / Turan: Celebrations on the occasion of the spring holiday of Novruz began in Baku.
Traditionally, the start of the festivities was given from the ceremony on the site in front of the Maiden Tower in Baku with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The head of state lit a festive fire. He delivered a speech to the audience, stressing that Novruz has been the most revered holiday of the Azerbaijani people since ancient times. Even in the days of Soviet totalitarianism, the people preserved this holiday. After Azerbaijan gained independence, Novruz began to be marked at the state level.
The festivities continue on the seaside boulevard.
This year in Azerbaijan spring comes on March 20 at 20.15.
