Baku/27.01.21/Turan: A new call for scholarships is now open until 26 February for students aged 16-17 years old as of 1 September 2021, wanting to deepen their knowledge about Europe and the European Union.
Training will begin on September 1, 2021. Applications are accepted until February 26.
All selected candidates will be awarded by the European Union a scholarship covering tuition fees, accommodation and meals on site, travel to and from Tbilisi, all necessary study materials and resources, as well as full health insurance.
Graduates of the Eastern Partnership European School in Tbilisi will receive the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, which is accepted in 75 countries at over 2,000 universities, and is widely recognised by colleges and universities around the world.
The EU-funded scholarship programme will support up to 40 successful students from the six EaP countries to study for an IB Diploma with a focus on European Studies. The Eastern Partnership European School Programme is delivered by the New School in Tbilisi, Georgia, covering a two-year pre-university course, starting in the academic year 2021-2022.
This unique diploma programme combines the academic excellence of the IB with specialised teaching inspired by the European Schools system. In their studies, essays and educational activities, students will be offered a European-focused learning programme that promotes European values of multiculturalism and multilingualism, deepening their knowledge of European languages, literature and history.
The Eastern Partnership European School has been set up as part of the efforts of the European Union and its partner countries to strengthen educational opportunities and inter-regional exchanges for young people across the six EaP countries. Currently, 65 students study on the programme, with a new cohort of up to 40 students having joined in September 2020.
Interested students should submit their applications through the website: www.eapeuropeanschool.eu by 26 February 2021, at 12:00 noon, Georgia time (UTC +4:00). The selection process will include written tests through the online platform Zoom, and interviews for pre-selected candidates. The list of scholarship recipients for the academic year 2021-2022 will be announced by the end of May 2021. According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.
