Court Leaves Robert Kocharyan under Arrest
Yerevan / 03/15/19 / Turan: On Friday, the court in Yerevan granted the investigation"s request to extend the arrest of the former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan for another two months.
The investigation motivated the decision by the fact that Kocharyan may influence witnesses. The court also rejected the petition of lawyers for the release of the ex-President on bail. Kocharyan himself was present at the meeting.
Kocharyan was arrested last July on charges of overthrowing the constitutional order in March 2008. However, the Court of Appeal on August 13 overturned this decision and released him.
The Prosecutor General"s Office appealed this decision and the Court of Appeal again arrested Kocharyan in December. -02D-
