Criminal acts revealed in employees of two more military registration and enlistment offices
Baku/06.07.23/Turan: In the course of search operations, conducted by the Anti-Corruption Main Department of the Prosecutor General's Office, unlawful acts were revealed
Employees of the Department have revealed illegal violations in the activities of inspectors of the Jalilabad and Lachin regional departments of the State Service for Mobilization and Military Call-up - Ramil Hasanov and Rashad Rashidli.
In particular, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reports that they are suspected of receiving a financial reward from citizens in order to possibly influence the decisions of officials of the draft board and medical commission to declare the draftees unfit for military service.
Criminal cases have been initiated - Hasanov and Rashidli were accused under Article 312-1 (illegal influence on the decision of an official) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan and by court decision a preventive measure in the form of transfer under police supervision was adopted against them. Both were suspended from their posts.
Earlier, Rahim Agayev, head of the Khachmaz regional office, was arrested on similar charges. -021B06-

On January 24, the Baku Court of Appeals considered an appeal regarding the arrest of journalist Farid Ismailov. On January 24, the Sabail District Court continued the trial of Aziz Orujov, the head of the online publication Kanal-13. According to lawyer Fahraddin Mehdiyev, at the beginning of the hearing, the judge rejected a petition filed at the previous hearing to transfer Orujov to house arrest. The defense then petitioned for journalists to be allowed into the trial and for conditions to be created for them to conduct filming.
