Harlem Dezir isconcerned about new charges against MehmanHuseynov
Baku / 27.12.18 / Turan:The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Harlem Desir, expressed deep concern over thenew accusation against the chairman of the Institute for Reporters Freedom and Safety (IRFS), blogger MehmanHuseynov several months before his release.
In his Twitter microblog, he expressed hope for his speedy release.
Mehman Huseynov was arrested in March 2017 and sentenced to 2 years in prison under a libel suit filed by the head of the Nasimi police.
Now he is charged for beating a jail employee.
Human rights activists are convinced that Huseynov is being persecuted for exposing corruption among high-ranking officials, as well as criticizing the authorities. -16D--
