Ilgar Mamedov Hungry in the Cell
Put in the box in the prison in Kurdakhani on May 30, the leader of the civil movement "Republican Alternative" (REAL) Ilgar Mamedov is kept hungry there. Turan was told by the lawyer Khalid Bagirov, who visited Mamedov on June 1.
As explained by the lawyer, from the outset of his detention in jail, Mamedov refuses to take food that is given to this institution. He does this for security reasons and the poor quality of the food. He usually gets food from his family.
However, after the conclusion in the box Mamedov is not given homemade food and he refuses to accept food that is given to the jail.
The lawyer said that during these days Mamedov strongly pinched. He is not given the chance to shave in the box. He has an overgrown beard.
According to the counsel, they want to break Mamedov.
Bagirov said that the transfer of Mamedov into the box was illegal. Mamedov has the right to remain in solitary confinement, and rightly disagreed with the transfer of him by a suspicious person in order to avoid provocation.
Especially since the end of February they once brought to the cell a man who behaved suspiciously and offered him to leave the country, and then to commit suicide. As it turned out, it was a former employee of the law enforcement agencies.
Bagirov noted that at the conclusion of Mammadov in solitary confinement and inhuman treatment of him, a complaint will be filed to the court.
However, judicial review of the complaint will be delayed until Mammadov comes out of lockup. However, there he will still remain until June 5, and further deprivation can have serious health consequences.
In this regard, the counsel urged Western embassies and government offices of international organizations to intervene immediately to ensure the legitimate rights of Mamedov.
Recall that Mamedov was arrested on charges of organizing the riots in Ismailly on January 23-24. The public considers him a prisoner of conscience.
The European Court of Human Rights decided to consider the complaint of Mamedov in advance. -16B06-
