Islamists prepare for new protests in front of the U.S. and French Embassies
The Islamic Party of Azerbaijan (IPA) appealed to the Baku Mayor Office with a notice of intention to hold on September 29 a protest in front of the embassies of France and the United States.
The decision about the action was taken at a meeting of the board of the IPA, according to Deputy Chairman of IPA, Akif Heydarli. He said that they protest against the anti-Islamic film "Innocence of Muslims" in the United States and the cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed in the French weekly "Charly Hebdo".
The IPA also protests against pressure on believers in Masalli and Astara regions of Azerbaijan which has intensified lately. Heydarli stressed that the protest action will be held regardless of the fact if the Mayor Office permit the municipality or not.
Earlier, the faithful held unsanctioned actions in front of both embassies, resulting in the arrest of more than 20 people. -16D06-
