Baku/12.09.19/Turan: On Thursday President Ilham Aliyev received PACE head Liliane Mori Pasquier, who is on an official visit to Baku. According to the statement on the website of the head of state, during the conversation it was noted that the meetings and discussions held by Pascier in Azerbaijan create good opportunities for developing ties between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe. The importance of events this year to mark the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe was also emphasized. The parties also widely discussed various aspects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe. The issues of Azerbaijan"s accession to the European conventions and bringing national legislation in line with these documents were also touched on. The issues of protecting human rights and the development of democracy were also considered. A thorough exchange of views took place on issues on the agenda of the Council of Europe and topics of mutual interest, the report said. - 06D-
