Presidency of the Council of CIS Interior Ministries Moved to Azerbaijan
A meeting of the Interior Ministers of CIS countries started in Baku today. The two-day meeting will prioritize cooperation in the fight against transnational organized crime and international terrorism and increase the efficiency of interaction in ensuring public safety.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Arthur Rasizadeh; head of the CIS Executive Committee, Sergey Lebedev; Secretary General of Interpol, Ronald Noble; and representatives of the diplomatic corps. Armenia refused to participate in the event in connection with the Ramil Safarov case. During the meeting, the chair of the Council moved to Baku.
According to Interior Minister Ramil Usubov, through cooperation and quick action of the police of the CIS countries, hundreds of criminal gangs have been debunked and violent crimes disclosed, and thousands of people on the international wanted list have been detained.
According to him, this cooperation has been steadily strengthened and new content has been found for the benefit of the states and the nations. In his view, the established form of cooperation is adequate to modern challenges and threats. "The fight against international terrorism and transnational organized crime is to protect the peaceful and prosperous life for citizens," said Usubov. -03D06-
