Reception in Honor of U.S. Independence Day
Yesterday at the U.S. Embassy, there was an official reception on the occasion of Independence Day of America.
During the event, speeches were made by the Charge d'Affaires of the U.S., Adam Sterling, and Azerbaijan’s Finance Minister, Samir Sharifov.
Sterling noted the close cooperation between the two countries in combating terrorism.
“The basis of more than 20 years of American diplomacy in Azerbaijan is strengthening the country's independence, because Azerbaijan is our partner and the U.S. needs strong partners.
The United States helped the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline for this purpose, our countries cooperate closely in fighting terrorism for this purpose, and the U.S. plays an important role in the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict for the same purpose,” said Sterling.
In turn, Sharifov said that after three years of interruption, Azerbaijan and the U.S. have increased their economic ties in 2012.
“This year reciprocal high-level visits have been made between the two states. The relationship between U.S. and Azerbaijan is expanding day by day. Azerbaijan constantly keeps the focus of its attention on its relations with Washington, and these links are of strategic nature,” said Sharifov.
According to him, Azerbaijan and the United States contribute to energy security and combating terrorism. “Our cooperation will continue to develop on the rise,” summed up Sharifov. -03C06-
