Russian scientists ask to release Hilal Mamedov
The staff of the Institute of Mathematics named after V.A. Steklov of the Russian Academy of Sciences, addressed Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to release Hilal Mamedov.
"Hilal Mamedov - Candidate of Sciences, is a graduate student with a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from the Institute of the USSR Academy named after V.A. Steklov in Moscow. As a graduate and a staunch supporter of the Soviet and Russian education system, Mamedov in his research and work held values ??celebrated by native spiritual tradition, which is largely based on the ideas of Christianity and Islam. To his students Mamedov explained the importance of respect for all people, regardless of their religion, the need for which is dictated by our common political destiny for the past three centuries.
A deeply intelligent man, Mamedov realized that he must make a contribution to the preservation of the culture, language and traditions of the ethnic group, the people who raised him. He headed the newspaper 'Voice of the Talysh', which printed materials of an exclusively cultural orientation. The newspaper promoted spiritual values destroyed during the years of atheism and moral decline in the culture of the Talysh, Azerbaijani, Russian and other peoples of our vast country.
According to our sources, the situation was aggravated by the fact that the Talysh cultural evening organized by Mammadov was attended by the film crew of the Russian television channel NTV. Demonstration of an interview with Mamedov on Russian TV hastened his arrest.
The absurdity of the charges brought against Mamedov is obvious. On the one hand, he is charged with the sale and use of drugs, on the other hand for treason. So far, the international experience of arrest of foreign spies does not remember a single case of people suspected of spying that were also drug dealers. Additionally, Mamedov has a chronic asthma. It is known that in this disease, drug use is forbidden.
Dear Ilham Heydar oglu!
The unlawful character of Mamedov's arrest is recognized by international organizations, Azerbaijani, Russian and international human rights activists. We ask you, using your weighty authority and great political experience, to facilitate the release of Mamedov," says the statement, signed by a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, O. Besov and the Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, V. Markov. -02D-
