Sulhaddin Akbar denies reports on pressure
Deliberative Majlis of Democratic Forces (DMDF) is preparing for the rally on November 3, demanding free elections, the provision of other democratic freedoms and inviolability of property.
However, despite the notification about the action was sent to the executive power of the city on October 15, the Mayor Office has not responded to the organizers yet, according to the chairman of the "Open Society" Party (OSP), Sulhaddin Akbar
The DMDF is planning to hold a rally on November 3 from 16:00 to 18:00 in one of five venues in Baku: Azadlig Square, Fizuli, garden Samad Vurgun, the square in front of the cinemas "Tabriz" or "Narimanov."
According to Akbar, if the Mayor Office does not authorize the action, the DMDF will complain to the court. In addition, a picket will be held in front of the executive power.
Akbar also commented on the situation around the leased office of party. He denied reports that the pressure is made on the owners of the office and the leadership of the party because of the party's leader - former speaker of parliament, Rasul Guliyev, who is in exile. "There is no pressure," said Akbar.
However, during the last few days an information was in the local media that the relatives of the owner of the building, Azer Asgarov, fired from the Ministry for Emergency Situations for providing premises to the party led by Rasul Guliyev.
DMDF was established on September 5, 2012 and it includes 14 parties: a secular party, party "Aydinlar" ("Intellectuals"), the party of the "Open Society", the Liberal Party, the party of "Free Azerbaijan", the Freedom Party, the Liberal Democratic Party, Islamic Democratic Party, the party of the "Great Azerbaijan", the National Independence Party, the party of the "Classic Popular Front of Azerbaijan," the Green Party, the People's Freedom Party and the Democratic Party (as an observer).—05B06-

On January 17, the Khatai District Court of Baku rejected the requests for house arrest for journalists Aynur Elgünesh and Natig Djavadly, employees of Meydan TV, their lawyers, Elchin Sadigov and Zibeyda Sadigova reported to Turan news agency. According to the lawyers, there are no legal or procedural grounds for keeping the journalists in detention. The journalists themselves stated that the criminal case against them had been fabricated to punish them for their professional activities. The defense intends to appeal the court's refusal to transfer the journalists to house arrest.

Journalist Farid Ismayilov, who had been under police supervision in connection with the Toplum TV case, was detained on January 17 and brought to the Khatai District Court, his colleagues reported.

The preliminary investigation in the case of the Toplum TV publication (journalists and activists) is coming to an end, reported Rasul Jafarov, the lawyer of the Institute for Democratic Initiatives, Ruslan Izzatli.
