Supporters of Independence Do Not Support Ilham Aliyev
On Monday, a number of websites published a statement in support the re-election of Ilham Aliyev. The document was adopted on September 29 on behalf of the deputies who signed the Act of Independence of Azerbaijan in 1991.
Rasim Agayev, the former head of the press service of ex-president Ayaz Mutallibov advised Turan that such a document had been accepted. According to him, the former MPs have created a Permanent Council, which will express opinions on certain issues. However, Rasim Agayev did not identify which individual MPs signed the statement.
Information that the deputies who adopted the Act of Independence of Azerbaijan endorsed the statement was not confirmed.
The head of the executive office of the party Musavat, one of the signers of the specified act, Arif Hajili, called "unjustified" information about a statement in support of President Ilham Aliyev.
"MPs who signed the Act of Independence - Isa Gambar, Arif Hajili, Tofiq Gasimov, and Maryam Hasanova are not aware of the above-named meeting and, of course, did not take part in it," he said.
Another former member, who signed the Act of 1991, Hajibaba Azimov, said he was informed about the meeting of former MPs. According to him, his fellow former MPs are not relevant to this application. He noted that the response will be prepared in the form of a statement.
As we found out, the above-mentioned appeal was signed by MPs - former Communists, while those who actually passed the Act of Independence did not sign any statement in support of President Ilham Aliyev. -05B04-
