The Conference of secret services of Turkic states
On Thursdayn Baku hosted the 18th Conference of Heads of Security Turkic-speaking countries with the participation of the delegations of Turkey, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
In order to strengthen and expand cooperation to combat terrorism and extremism, as observers in the event was also attended by representatives of the relevant structures of Russia, Ukraine and Georgia.
The meeting was opened by the head of the Administration of the President Ramiz Mehdiyev, and wished success to the participants.
The head of the National Security Ministry of Azerbaijan Eldar Mahmudov stressed the need for a unified position and approach to the factors threatening the countries-participants of the conference, such as terrorism, religious extremism and uncontrolled territories. Among these threats in the region, he called the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan in Karabakh, a terrorist organization "Islamic State".
Mahmudov stressed the importance of further developing the exchange of experiences and the Turkic-speaking countries.
Head of Turkish National Intelligence Organization Hakan Fidan spoke about the prospects of cooperation in the fight against terrorism and other transnational crimes.
Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Kazakhstan Gabit Baizhanov touched up against radicalism and religious extremism.
The participants met with interest performances and multimedia presentations of other participants, they discussed ways to enhance and improve cooperation in combating transnational organized crime, the sharing of intelligence. In conclusion, the participants adopted a final document, the next meeting of the Conference will be held next year in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that the visit of the President of Somalia to Baku "will open a new page in the close friendly relations" between the two countries. On February 12, the Baku Appeals Court rejected the appeal to transfer journalist Ramin Djebrailzade (Deko) to house arrest, according to his lawyer Nemat Kerimli. The "Union for the Freedom of Political Prisoners of Azerbaijan" has published an updated list of political prisoners, which includes 357 names. Compared to the previous list from December 12 last year, the number of political prisoners has increased by 26 individuals. Among them are journalists Farid Ismayilov, Shamshad Agha, Shahnaz Beylergizi, and 13 arrested during the unrest in Imishli, among others.
