The Court of Appeal upholds the verdict of deputy chairman of "Musavat"
Baku Appeals Court today rejected the complaint of the deputy chairman of the party "Musavat" Faraj Kerimli, Turan was told by the lawyer Nemat Karimli. The Court of Appeal had no objective investigation, violating once again justice for F.Kerimli. Thus, the court dismissed the defense motion on appeal by holding a partial trial. The lawyer said that the court's decision will be appealed to the Supreme Court.
On 6 May the Baku Serious Crimes Court sentenced F.Kerimli to 6.5 years in prison after being convicted under Article 234.4.3 (drug trafficking on a large scale) of the Criminal Code.
* Brothers Siraj and Faraj Kerimli were arrested on 17 and 23 July 2014 on charges of drug possession. On 18 August, 2014 the international human rights organization Amnesty International announced Faraj and Siraj Kerimli "prisoners of conscience". On March 12 court sentenced Siraj Kerimli to 6 years in prison. -06D-
