The issue of transferring Gubad Ibadoglu to house arrest will be considered on August 7
Baku/06.08.23/Turan: On August 7, the Baku Court of Appeal will consider a complaint about the refusal to transfer opposition politician Gubad Ibadoglu to house arrest, lawyer Zibeyda Sadigova told Turan.
“Changing the preventive measure is especially important in terms of the deterioration of Ibadoglu's health. The last time I saw him was August 4th. Before that, he was examined by a team of doctors, a condition from a cardiologist, an endocrinologist and other specialists. Doctors ascertained the expansion of the aorta.
Until now, despite diabetes, hypertension and other diseases, he managed to keep the width of the aorta at 3.7 mm with medications and an active lifestyle. But after the arrest, in less than two weeks, the aorta expanded to 4.1 mm. Doctors indicated that this is a dangerous level and further expansion could lead to rupture of the aorta. In addition, doctors during the examination also revealed a goiter of the thyroid gland. Due to the exacerbation of diabetes mellitus, his vision in his left eye was weakened. The observed negative dynamics, according to doctors, can call for irreversible processes in the body, fraught with death,” the lawyer said.
Given these health concerns, the defense will urge Ibadoglu to be placed under house arrest.
“Under the conditions of house arrest, at least he will be able to maintain stable pressure, there will be control over the intake of medicines, and dietary nutrition will be provided. His blood pressure and blood sugar levels will be measured regularly and in a timely manner,” the lawyer said.
Due to the holiday, representatives of the Penitentiary Service were not available for comment.
