Baku/25.09.23/Turan: The second meeting was held in the city of Khojaly in Karabakh on September 25, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to develop dialogue and cooperation between the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides. The meeting was attended by official representatives of Baku headed by MP Ramin Mammadov and Armenian residents of Karabakh, including Sergey Martirosyan, and David Melkumyan.
The meeting organized by Ramin Mammadov, responsible for contacts with the Armenian residents of Karabakh, was held in a constructive and cordial atmosphere, the Administration of the President of Azerbaijan notes. The participants expressed their satisfaction with the positive progress achieved in resolving various issues discussed during the previous meeting in Yevlakh on September 21. In particular, they noted the successes achieved in the delivery of humanitarian aid and the prompt restoration of fuel and electricity supplies.
Mammadov spoke about the upcoming steps that need to be taken in the reconciliation process. He stressed that in some remote settlements, elderly residents of Armenia who were in seclusion received the necessary medical care and are currently under the supervision of doctors. It was suggested that representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross should be given access to meet with these individuals, which would allow them to either reunite with family members or receive appropriate medical care in suitable institutions.
The meeting participants also focused on the activities of the Working Group headed by Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, responsible for solving socio-humanitarian, economic and infrastructure issues. They agreed to organize a meeting with the relevant persons engaged in communal, medical and other civil activities on the territory. In addition, it was proposed that medical care in the proposed field hospital near the city of Khankendi or in the direction of Khojaly should be jointly managed by medical personnel of Azerbaijani and Armenian origin. The idea of creating a mobile catering service jointly managed by Azerbaijani and Armenian service personnel was also discussed.
During the meeting, the issues of preparation for the provision of necessary medical care to persons with chronic, serious diseases or in need of specialized surgical intervention were discussed. It is important to note that the importance of forming mobile joint medical teams consisting of medical workers of Azerbaijani and Armenian origin was emphasized at the meeting. These teams will provide medical services to isolated people in remote villages who need medical care.
In addition, the meeting stressed the importance of organizing visits of representatives of civil society and public activists of Armenian origin living in the Karabakh economic region to Baku or other cities of Azerbaijan. Such initiatives were deemed necessary to create a platform for dialogue with civil society and confidence-building measures.
The consultations concluded with an agreement to convene another meeting in the near future to assess the progress made and determine the next steps in this ongoing reconciliation process. This event underlines the commitment to peaceful coexistence and cooperation between the Azerbaijani and Armenian communities in the Karabakh region, inspiring hope for a more stable and harmonious future.-0—
