Transparency International: the Most Corrupt Sphere in Azerbaijan - Health Care, Law and Education
Transparency International released its annual report on the state of corruption in the world - Corruption Barometer 2013.
In this extensive study it reflects global trends and an analysis of the situation in countries that have experienced major crises and the impact of corruption on these processes.
Compared with previous years, the current report has no general ranking of countries, reflecting the level of corruption. At the same time, in the report there are the results of surveys of citizens' opinion on the issue of corruption.
As for Azerbaijan, 32% of the people surveyed believe that the level of corruption in the country remains at a high level, 37% consider corruption a serious problem, and 49% believe that the government is actively fighting the problem.
28% believe that political parties are infected with corruption, 29% believe that the Parliament and the armed forces are corrupt, 26% believe NGOs are corrupt, and 27% are sure that the Azerbaijani media are corrupt.
26% believe there is corruption in religious structures, 35% believe it is business, 37% believe it is in the sphere of education, 42% believe there is corruption in the legal system, 44% believe it is in the health care system, 41% believe it is in the police force, and 37% believe this evil in the sphere of public service.
At the same time, 70% of the respondents are satisfied with the efforts of the authorities to fight corruption, while 30% are not satisfied. -02D-
