Visa Section of French Embassy to Close on 17-21 September
Due to renovations, the visa section of the French Embassy in Baku will be closed between September 17-21. During this time, applications of citizens will not be considered. This applies both to the owners of conventional as well as diplomatic and service passports, said the French Embassy.
Currently, the date of reception of visa applications shall be no later than in 8 business days. The term of the review of the documents takes a minimum of 5 working days.
Holders of diplomatic and service passports may apply for the appointment of the date of delivery of documents every day from Monday to Friday from 15.00 to 16.00. Consideration of the application takes a minimum of 2 working days.
Given this, the Embassy requests that people planning a trip to countries, where visas are issued by the French Embassy (France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands) to consider the ad.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.

During the ongoing COP29 climate conference in Baku on November 14, a group of activists staged a protest condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The activists also denounced countries that supply oil and weapons to nations waging aggressive wars. The protest featured placards with slogans such as: "From fossil fuels to peace!", "End war crimes!", "Punish the aggressor!", and "Phase out fossil fuel use to achieve peace!" among others.
